Spotlight on Employment in The Slovak Republic:

  • State minimum wage – EUR 380
  • Annual paid vacation – The basic scope of paid holiday shall be at least four weeks. The paid holiday of an employee who will be aged 33 or over at the end of the applicable calendar year shall be at least five weeks.
  • Payroll currency – local
  • Overtime – An employer is allowed to order an employee to work compulsory overtime of up to a maximum of 150 hours per year. Overtime work may not exceed 400 hours per year in total (i.e. compulsory plus voluntary overtime). Also the possibility to perform overtime work by senior employees is reduced from original maximum 550 to 400 hours per year. From 2013 night work is deemed to be work performed between 10:00 pm to 06:00 am.
